Readers’ Choice is the annual tip-of-the-hat, if you will, to local tradesmen and women, selected by local readers as the FAVORITE in their chosen profession.
This year’s theme, as you will note, is paying homage to the First Amendment and the extraordinary “Power of the Press.” It is a tribute to the tireless efforts of reporters and photojournalists who dig deep to get the story – the facts and ultimately make social change.
The press has not only made an impact on world change throughout the years, but also on local communities, such as Arcadia, Monrovia, Pasadena and Sierra Madre. For the past 22 years, Beacon Media News, publisher of Arcadia Weekly, Monrovia Weekly, Pasadena Independent, and Sierra Madre Weekly (AMPS), has brought local communities insightful, thoughtful coverage on news, education, arts & entertainment, events, high school sports, and community leaders.
When the Arcadia High School Constitution Team won the State championship, Arcadia Weekly was there. When Monrovia High Wildcat Varsity Football won CIF Championships, Monrovia Weekly was there, and when a major $6 million embezzlement was discovered in the City of Pasadena, Pasadena Independent was there.
The overwhelming evidence of the “Power of the Press” has transpired into spotlighting FAVORITE places and people within our local communities. Those favorites can be found in this year’s Readers’ Choice, along with recognition to readers’ RECOMMENDED.
